Tip #1 - How can I change my Pro/E startup folder, and why should I?

Your Pro/E startup folder is where your startup config.pro and config.win.# files reside, regardless of where you later change the Pro/E Working Directory. If your Pro/E startup folder is the root directory of a drive, or a system or program folder, consider changing it. Idealy, pick a location which offers easy navigation to your working folders. For instance, a folder named ProE Projects could be the startup folder, with all folders for individual Pro/E projects created inside this projects folder. Start Pro/E, select Working Directory, and there are all the project folders!

To change your Pro/E startup folder, first create the new folder if it does not already exist. Right-click each Pro/E and/or ProAppMgr shortcuts and menu item, select Properties, and change the Start in folder to the new folder. To finish, move your config.pro and config.win.* files from the old startup folder to the new folder.

Tip #2 - Using PurgeDrive in Windows 7 and Vista.

On Windows 7 (and some versions of Vista) PurgeDrive needs an install folder where you have full control permission. These newer versions of Windows prevent full control in the Programs folders. There are ways around this, but the simplest solution is to install PurgeDrive under the root drive, i.e. "C:\PurgeDrive\" instead of a subfolder of Programs or Programs (X86).
